Despite government efforts to render Telangana a drug-free state, drug seizures continue to occur across various regions. Some celebrities are reportedly falling into the grips of drug and alcohol addiction. Recently, special task force teams have raided several drug parties, including a notable incident in the Madhapur PS area of Hyderabad.
Police disrupted a drug party at a hotel in Madhapur, conducting a search of a guest room where they seized various drugs. Four individuals were detained, including the event organiser and a choreographer believed to be involved in the operation. Substances such as MDMA, LSD, and Charas, valued at ₹4.18 lakh, were confiscated from the suspects.
According to the Madhapur police, a resident of Musapeta from Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh introduced a 24-year-old choreographer from the film industry, a prominent architect from Chandanagar, and a young woman from Gudivada in Krishna district to plan the drug party. They allegedly sourced the drugs from Bangalore. Acting on a tip-off, Gachibowli and Cyberabad SOT police raided the hotel, apprehending four individuals in the room and seizing six mobile phones along with the drugs. Cases have been registered against those detained, and they have been remanded.
Furthermore, just two days prior, police seized a significant quantity of drugs in Begumpet. Atif Aslam Khan (34) and his wife Subhani Begum (22), a couple from Assam residing in Prakash Nagar, were found selling drugs. Investigations revealed that they were transporting drugs from Swarashtra by train for local distribution to earn quick profits. Officials seized 254 grams of amphetamine valued at ₹20 lakh from the couple, along with detaining 11 drug users in connection to the operation.
